Even though
There is a movie, God on trial, about a group of Jews on death row in Auschwitz. They’re forced together into this one barrack: religious Jews, atheists, believers, doubters, rich, poor, the whole gamut. Faced with their awful fate they decide to put God on trial and see if He was really faithful to His Word and covenant with Israel. Now, before you immediately feel inclined to dismiss the whole thing as ridiculous or condemn it as blasphemy, just know that I believe with all my heart that each and every one of us puts God on trial on a daily basis and depending on how generous or bitter we are at any given moment, we find Him guilty or not in His dealings with us. Anyway, the movie ends with them finding God guilty and being dragged into the gas chambers to be killed. As they stand in line one young man says to an older Jew, ‘we found God guilty, now what?! What do we do now?!’ The old man bows his head, covers his head and tells the young man, ‘now… we pray’.
I repeat that scene in my mind every time the enemy comes and mocks, ‘where is your God? How is this fair? He’s ignoring you!’
You see, the enemy is not just the accuser of believers before God (Rev. 12:10), he’s also the accuser of God in our own judgement of Him. But he’s not a prosecutor anymore than I am God’s defence lawyer. Satan is a liar and he’s been lying from the beginning and there is no truth in him (John 8:44). When he comes with his lies, I pray. I don’t rebuke, I don’t engage, -- I don’t even acknowledge him. The only One I acknowledge in all my ways is my Father in heaven. God doesn’t need me to defend Him, He needs me to trust Him. I admit, some days that’s easier than others, but I never let
a thought take root inside me until it bows the knee to God, even if I have to force it there.
“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. GOD, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places.” – Habakkuk 3:17-19
Just felt like sharing that. May God bless all those that have placed their trust in God and may He keep you strong in faith as you await His answer!
